As an incoming college student in the mechanical engineering field, I have many ambitions for my future. I want to achieve personal success as well as impact others for the better with my skills. Engineering is one of the broadest occupations, so I will focus specifically on how I wish to benefit mechanical engineering. It’s an ever changing industry. Every day, it seems, some new discovery is being made or some revolutionary design is being introduced. Now, more than ever, there is a high demand for mechanical engineers to fill seats. It’s no wonder that so many aspiring engineers find themselves in internships during college.
Mechanical engineering fits my personality. I consider myself a highly technical person, yet I also have a taste for creative work. Mechanical engineering combines both of these in a way that will allow me to unleash my capabilities to the fullest. I knew from middle school that I would want to study some facet of engineering. I was always fascinated by the numerous mechanical designs we use every day, from the differentials in our cars, to the intricacies of locks. So many inventions that we take for granted are truly ingenious.
My goal is to be a part of a project which explores inventive new methods in solving a problem. I hope to use mechanical engineering to help others. I love looking back on inventions which have had great impact. From the printing press to the pneumatic cylinder, Mechanical engineers have had a major hand in raising the quality of life. It’s truly remarkable what has been accomplished and there are still many things to be learned and built. I am just beginning this journey as a mechanical engineering student, so I can’t be sure where my path will take me. But wherever the road leads I’ll take my passion with me.
