My goals in life by David - November 2019 Scholarship Essay

Life is short and sometimes it can be shorter than it should be because of mishaps. It is moments like this when you really realize what you are grateful for. I am grateful for many things in my life, especially for my family friends and most importantly Jesus Christ.

To be honest I wouldn’t be the same person I am today if I had never been introduced to church. Seeing that my whole family was already Christian it was only a matter of time before I’d be converted. Don’t get me wrong. I have been going to church since the day I was born, but I never knew why until I was in 4th grade. To me I had thought that church was just a place to just talk and play games with the other children, but I now realize that is way more than some kiddy games. Because of church I have been able to see the world in a clearer way. I give thanks to the one who has given he everything and I am so grateful with the life I have been given. I’d rather be here than be living on the streets asking for money. This is why I praise him.

My social life plays a major role in my life. For example: my friends and family are the ones who make me want to do better. My family is very important to me, they have been with me ever since I came into this world and without them I wouldn’t know what to do. They’re all so amazing in my life, their all happy, making good money, living their dreams, and yet they still have time for me. I’m the last child, so I’m not “expected” to be as good as the others, but I want to do something good enough to let them know that they have some competition. Same with my friend, we laugh, talk, fight, and cry with each other to prove that we can be better than one another. One example of what we fight over is grades. I for one want to go college so that I can live the life that I want in the future, and to do that my grades must be good now so that getting into the college I want will be a breeze.

When I grow up, get out the house, and get a job I don’t want to be a “work-a-holic” when it comes to work. Its good to have relax time so that you can recuperate and chill out. One of the main hobbies I do is listen to music. You know the phrase “music was my first love”, this is 100% true for me. I can’t really tell you why, but it all I know is that when I first heard someone hit a high note I was addicted. Another main hobby I have is Marvel, specifically Spiderman. I guess it started when I was little, my mom had got back from the store and when I saw here she handed me a Spiderman toy with suction cups on his hands and feet. Thinking back on it now, that toy was lame, but little me thought that it was the greatest gift ever, and ever since then he has been my favorite hero. And still is to this day. A couple years back I had read his origins to see why Spiderman was Spiderman and in reading I found out that not only does he save the city, he doesn’t get recognized for it because of his secret identity, and he manages to stay on top of his grades. When I first read that it gave me a goal I life “ to do my best even when no one else is looking. Also known as integrity.

My last couple of goals, while they are at the bottom of my list does not mean they aren’t important. One of them is working and the other is food. Both correspond well with each other. Since I don’t have a football period because of reasons I have to do most of my workouts at home. Although I is a lot more boring compared to doing it with others, it won’t stop me from getting the body I want. Same goes with food. Me personally I love food but if I don’t stop myself I will overeat, but since I want to get better body I have to change my eating habits so that I can feel and look better.

In conclusion, I have things in my life pushing me so that I can become better and better. I wouldn’t have made it this far in life it wasn’t for my, friends, Jesus Christ my lord and savior, I am blessed and because I am blessed I want to be the best that I can be.
