Manage your time by David - September 2014 Scholarship Essay
Life is more than just school and work. There is no doubt, however, that in this day and age having a higher education expands upon opportunities for a life time. School not only imparts knowledge on a given subject but also imparts habits and life lessons. But just like in anything that a person can do distractions pop up ranging from family events to a person's own hobbies and interests. Some are naturals and can handle anything that comes along with a small amount of effort while others need to buckle down. Both types can be successful. How does a person earn the title of ‘successful’? They know how to manage their time between all aspects of their life.
Time management is a critical tool for all aspects of life. A college student, whether they are 18, 30 or 50, have to manage their studies, sleep, food, relationships, personal desires and everything else that makes up life. All people do this with varying levels of success. The successful naturals do it effortlessly; almost like they instinctively know how much time needs to be allotted for each activity. Successful people who need to buckle down tend to suffer a bit more but even they can excel if they know how to manage time; it just may require a bit more thought... and frustration.
College is a time to learn who you are and what you are capable. It is a time to sculpt healthy habits to propel you throughout life. This makes time management even more important in college. If you can learn, and make it a part of you, like breathing, then when you are finished with college life only becomes easier.
Time management is critical in progressing through life. Knowing how to properly balance wants and needs leads to successful attainments of goals and hopefully a happy life.
