Education? Who needs that? by Daryl - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

Everyone needs education. A person’s parents could be the richest people in the world but money does not educate a person. Money does buy education at school but it does not enhance a person’s knowledge of the world. The urge to want to be educated comes from within and if a person does not want to learn then they simply will not learn.

Education, by definition, is “the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university” and also “an enlightening experience.” In my eyes education is more than just going to school and getting a degree. It is learning, whether that is from watching the news and learning more about what is going in the world or going to school and learning simple math or english. Educating one’s self will enhance their creative minds also, allowing our country to prosper in the new future.

Nowadays, the value of items are rising causing the cost of living to rise. More and more adults are working at fast food joints. Minimum wage jobs are not ideal for a man or woman to have when they have an obligation to their family that they need to support. Without a proper education, a person is unable to obtain a decent paying job that pays the bills and provides for themselves and others in their family. Minimum wage jobs are designed for teenagers who are just getting started in life; they are not designed for living purposes or long term jobs.

The world has such a dynamic atmosphere. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something different. To succeed in life a person needs to be well educated. Not only to pass through school but also be able to survive in the real world.
