Finding My Why by Dariana - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

As we get closer to finishing high school teachers, counselors and parents always ask, what do you want to achieve, what are your goals, and what is your reason in life. Sometimes, as students, we simply do not have that answer. It is difficult for a student to figure out what we want after high school. This issue has always been one of my biggest problems, trying to figure out what my why in life is, what I want to do, and the goals that I want to achieve. Motivation also plays a big role in finding one’s why in our life.
Achieving my why will not be a problem that I can solve in a day, this will take an extensive amount of time. I can be in college and still not find my why. Although my why in life is still not clear, some of my goals are. Right now my main goal is to graduate from high school and attend college. After my two years at a community college, I hope to attend a good nursing school and have a successful career. These goals will help me be a step closer to achieving finding my way in life.
Meeting my why does not only consist of academic goals but it also consists of my personal goals. On how to be a better person, be more confident, be more creative, and travel. These goals will help me find my inner self and what I really want to achieve and be as a person. Achieving to be more confident won’t only help me personally but it will help me in my school and work area. Traveling will help me see what's really out there and how people live in different countries. As well as seeing what I want to do for my future and realizing what is best for me.
All these goals won't be easy to achieve, there will be obstacles in the way that will be put in my path. I know that many of the obstacles will be put by myself, I will have times where I have no motivation or times where it is hard to go through things. But I will solve the problem of finding my why in life by pushing myself to do better and achieving all the goals that I have set for myself. When I achieve my why I will have a reason for doing what I do, I will no longer be confused about what I’m doing and why I’m doing and my life will have a clear path. Although finding my why in life will be a long journey I feel confident that I will achieve it. It doesn’t matter how many years.
