Who has most inspired you academically, and how have they encourage your success? by Daisja - October 2019 Scholarship Essay

The person who has inspired me academically, is my uncle Dr. Marccus Hendricks. My uncle has literally been in school since I was born, I remember asking my mom why is uncle still in school and he is grown. I didn't understand until about two years ago, we attend his college graduation and I heard them call him Dr. Hendricks. I remember sitting there amazed that my uncle had reached a level in education that some will never reach. I also was amazed because he is a black male and there that had his doctrine at the age of 30. My uncle is a very humble and quite guy, that is willing to help out in any way that he can. My uncle always let's my brother and I know that we can do anything that we set our minds to, and that the sky is the limit. Although we don't see much of him because he is a professor at the University of Maryland, he makes sure that we stay in contact with one another.
This is my senior year in high school and my uncle has made sure that I have narrowed down my choices in colleges that I want to attend. He has made sure that he reminds me that its crunch time, and that I need to stay on top of my grades because everything matters. With the help of my mom and my uncle I feel that I'm headed in the right direction to be very success in my college career. Making sure that I retake my SAT and also take the ACT is on the top of my to do list because I know my uncle will be asking me about that soon. I'm proud to call my uncle Dr. Hendricks, because it let me know that I to one day can be Dr. Agee if I put in the time and dedication like he did when he was in school.
