There are many pros and cons about attending college, but the pros outweigh the cons in many departments such as getting an education specifically for a certain major, being able to interact with different people and earning more money. Although, people who do not go to college can still end up working successful jobs, nevertheless, people who attend college are more likely to work a job they consider a career.
Many careers want college graduates due to the extra learning they receive while at a university. While attending college a student’s focus is around their major, which corresponds with their future job allowing them to gain useful information around that specific areas which gives students an advantage when they enter the work force. Students can also talk to other people that are in their major and professors can help steer students in the direction they want to go with their intended career. Many professors also have worked certain types of careers which allow students to ask firsthand what that job is like.
Going to college allows people to gain marketing skills as they interact with other people in their major, it also allows students to meet people who can help steer them into the career path of their choice. College also opens opportunities for students as they host job fairs, volunteering and internships through majors. Many students find multiple job opportunities through internship fairs as it allows them the much-needed steps to get into the type of career they want, the internship fairs also give students the opportunity to gain a mentor which would also help steer them towards their ideal career.
People who go to college earn more money doing the same job compared to people with only a high school diploma. Employers are often looking for people with a secondary degree which gives fresh out of college students an advantage in the work force compared to others. On average the higher of a degree someone has the more money they will be able to earn annually. Even though there is a disparity between race and gender, going to college gives people an advantage over others.
College is not for everyone and people do tend to be very successful without a secondary education but the majority of the world goes to college so they can have an advantage in the work force when applying for and fighting with other applicants for a job. When applying for a job it helps to have a bachelor's degree and above because it allows people to stand out from other applicants. Overall, going to college has its benefits when trying to apply for a dream job and helps people advance in their career overtime.
