Why leadership skills are not necessary for college success by Chris - March 2015 Scholarship Essay

There are many skills necessary for college success, but I don't think leadership is one of them. You need to have good study skills, good finance skills, networking skills, and many others for college success, but leadership is not one of them.

First off not everybody in college has leadership skills, some of us are natural followers. I think that it’s a good thing. Having people who are followers helps the leaders develop their leadership qualities. If this is the case, then how can we say that leadership skills are necessary for college success? Now don't get me wrong leadership skills are awesome to have, but not everybody is born with them. Not everyone in the army is a general.

Secondly as I alluded to in the last paragraph, not everyone I college has leadership skills, so of course people can make it through college successfully without them. Most college kids don't enter into leadership positions. Most college students aren't going into leadership positions after college, so again leadership skills aren't necessary.

This is my argument for why leadership skills aren't necessary for college success. They are good skills to have, but you can make it, not only through college, but there life without them.
