I think it is necessary to have leadership skills for college success because you are responsible for your own success. A professor isn't going to hold your hand through the class. If you miss an assignment, then you don't get a grade. I understand that not all professors are this strict, but they aren't like high school teachers either. A college student must lead themselves through their own education. If they don't understand a concept, then they are responsible for getting help. They're on their own so they should possess leadership skills because they have to take care of themselves. You can't take care of yourself if you aren't a leader.

Another way this can apply is through group projects. There may be times where you must complete an assignment in a group of people. Counting on those people to do the work isn't going to get you the grade you want. You must take charge when you get in a situation where the group isn't doing there part of the work. In conclusion, leadership skills help you in college. When you start college you are on your own. There is no way you can be a leader and be dependent on your parents to do everything for you.
