FFA Experiences by Chelsey - December 2019 Scholarship Essay
Ever since I was a freshman in high school I have been involved with the FFA organization. When I was a freshman and a sophomore I never really got involved within the organization because I was afraid and I didn’t think that I would fit in with the group or like the activities that were going on at whatever event was happening. However, the summer of my junior year, I traveled to Springfield Illinois to receive my FFA State Degree. In order to receive a state degree, you have to have a certain number of community service hours and you have to have so many hours worked at a summer job. When I got my degree it was one of the most eye-opening experiences I have had so far. This event was eye-opening because it made me realize that even though I think I won’t fit in or if I think I’m not so good at a certain event, more than likely I can compete in the event and not do a bad job doing so. Watching everyone receive their state degree from every school in the state made me realize that this is one of the best organizations to be apart of. The reason why I feel this way is because I saw people of all different kinds walking up on that stage. I realized that the FFA organization will accept anyone and everyone, as long as everyone is a team player and accepts people for the most important thing, which is being yourself. This organization lets you be whatever you want to be and doesn’t disclude anyone because they aren’t popular or may be different than others. It doesn’t matter what event you attend, this organization makes events fun and allows everyone to meet new people and make lots of friends. It has impacted me for these reasons. It has impacted me to believe in myself, no matter what I am trying to accomplish. It also impacts me on a daily basis because it makes me realize that we shouldn’t judge people by who they are or how they act because we don’t know what people are going through or why they act like they do. Ever since I received my state degree I have attended more events and I have been more active within this organization.
