Getting over it. by Chelsee - March 2014 Scholarship Essay
Over the four years of my high school career, I have come across many accomplishments. Each has taught me something, but one stands above all others. All of my life I have struggled with math, its just never been my strong suit. It didn't help that I was a very prideful person, and had stubbornly thought I would get it on my own. Overall, my math was a mess and a half.
Well Junior year had come along, and I suddenly realized I could not afford to "just get it on my own". So the entire year, every day, I went and got help from our mathematics center. All the work, and the many frustrating hours, lead to my greatest accomplishment. At the end of that year, my mathematics on my ACT went up.My math grade went way up,and I had made honor roll.FINALLY! I was happy that I had got past the wall I was stuck behind.
It may not seem like a big accomplishment to most, but to me this was an important time. It taught me to work harder, and to admit when I need help. Now that it's Senior year, and I still get help when I'm absolutely not getting something,My grade has stayed up.I'm even helping other people now.Again, it's not some award for highest honors, but it is self accomplishment. Its my greatest academic accomplishment.
