Artist within me by Chelsea - December 2014 Scholarship Essay

Education has shaped who I am today because all I think, breath and eat is Photoshop. I am a graphic artist and have been into computer art since my sophomore year of high school. I am twenty-two years old and I use Photoshop on a daily basis. It seems like a long time to be into one major, but I have managed to get my associates degree in 3D graphics and animation. I am striving to get my bachelors degree within two years. If it wasn't for my wonderful computer art teacher, I wouldn't be in the major I am today.

My first computer art class was with Mr. Wade. Who is still my favorite teacher till this day and someone I go and visit. He is a very fun loving and dedicated teacher. He made every learning experience enjoyable, rather than the old boring lecture. I actually took his class, not once but twice because I fell in love with making art in a different way. The rest of my High School teachers were for the normal classes such as English, Math, Science, etc. Most of the classes I didn't have to much of a care for because I knew that wasn't what I wanted for a major. When I attend college, I went for Graphic art.

My college was big for me but I enjoyed my three years there. Luckily I found another fantastic teacher I had for most of my major classes. He was also my advisor which was great. He was another teacher that made classes and learning amusing. I have been blessed to have such amazing teachers and attend special schools. I feel that if I didn't have great teachers, I don't think I would went to college or even had a major to pick from.

My major and education has shaped who I am because without it, I don't know who I would be. I would be lost and wouldn't know what to do with myself. With my education, I am able to use what I learned on a daily basis. I enjoy creating abstract art and commercial art, thanks to what I learned in school.
