The Importance of College by Cassandra - April 2020 Scholarship Essay
I believe that attending college can be very important to many people for a variety of reasons. Without people going to college, we would not have doctors, lawyers, or teachers, for example, who can be trusted so easily to know what they are doing. College, or some form of education or training after high school, is necessary in order to maximize the chances of success a person has in their life career-wise. I chose to attend college because I felt that it was a very necessary next step in my life, but many people might not have the same calling. If someone does not feel that college is right for them, then choosing another form of education following high school graduation is a very viable option as well. The world needs more than just students with college degrees, we need people with technical training to supply everyone with the necessities that might otherwise get overlooked in daily life.
College for me is a way to reach my goals, make new friends, and gain experiences along the way that will help to guide me through life. Post-secondary schooling of any kind is about the education and guidance a person can receive in order to reach their life goals. For example, as a nursing major at Penn State I am able to gain experiences and guidance through both the nursing faculty at school and clinically. I will have the opportunity to gain work experience before obtaining my degree and hopefully this will allow me to network and create connections with potential employers, none of which would have been possible had I not attended college. I feel that college is very important for a number of reasons and as a current college student, I believe that now more than ever.
