Influential Subject by Carter - February 2025 Scholarship Essay
My spark for my educational career wasn’t specifically a subject, but rather the fear of not being successful and not being able to support a family one day. Growing up, I realized that education would be my gateway to a better future, and this realization became a driving force in my life. The fear of falling short pushed me to dedicate myself to learning and personal growth. The thought of not being able to provide or achieve my goals for my future family ignited a passion for knowledge and success. This fear transformed into motivation, fueling my drive to work hard and absorb as much information as possible. It created a foundation of determination that has carried me through various challenges and shaped the way I approach my education.
This fear of failure and the desire to build a secure future have significantly influenced my academic pursuits. They have allowed me to manifest what I truly want for my future and set clear goals. I am now focused on architectural engineering, a field that combines my interests in design, structure, and problem-solving. The idea of contributing to the construction of buildings, bridges, and other crucial infrastructures excites me. As I plan to attend Texas State University, my vision for the future is clear: I intend to major in architectural engineering and possibly continue my education by pursuing a master’s degree in the same field. I believe this path will not only provide me with the skills needed to support a future family but also allow me to contribute to the development of meaningful structures in the world.
In reflection, my initial spark for my educational career was not ignited by a specific subject, but by the fear of not being able to succeed and support a family. This fear transformed into a passion for learning and personal growth. It has driven me to set clear academic goals, including pursuing a degree in architectural engineering at Texas State University, with the possibility of further education through a master’s program. This journey has allowed me to shape my future, turning fear into motivation, and guiding me toward a path of success.
