Uniqueness In a College by Carola - August 2020 Scholarship Essay

When thinking of the perfect college or one's dream college many things come to mind. In my case, I believe that a great college and my dream college is based on open-mindedness and diversity. I believe many colleges preach they do have that but they force it while on my dream college this would be something that comes naturally. Being able to walk the halls of my college and feel accepted in every little thing I see, from posters being in different languages for different people to the billboards being people from different races, ethnicities, body shapes, and everything. I believe we live in a society that we need more love, we need to accept people for who they are.

Nowadays, college is many people's second home, home away from home, or even their safe space in my case. My dream college would make all of that true for everyone, a place where people feel accepted, feel like they are the center of attention even if the university has thousands and thousands of people. Being able to feel accepted all the time, having places to sit around with friends not just being the library but a place to make memories. After all, yes we are there to study and to learn, but tell me one person that hasn't said that college has been the best time of their lives.

Now with everything going on with Covid-19 is hard for people to be loosing their last year of college or just having to go back home when you already made home a new place. I believe my dream University would be one that everyone feels safe, welcomed, and has a place to make memories. After all we can do learning fun if we are allowed to.
