Leadership is definitely necessary for college success. There comes a time when each younger woman or man needs to start taking their life into their own hands. College is that time for most.

We grow up having our parents or guardians take care of us and plan out or lives. Once we head off to college, our lives become our lives. We can decide to do whatever we want to do. We need to put our big girl and boy pants on and decide what we want for ourselves, not what our parents want or what anybody else wants. Leadership plays a role in this process of deciding what our individual self wants. Being able to be a leader for ourselves will help us grow into being a leader for others too. Once we are our own leaders we can contribute to the community. Many people have such great opinions and ideas, but without the leadership that is needed to express those ideas, those opinions and ideas will never be heard.

Leadership is necessary in college for many reasons. Two of the biggest reasons leadership is necessary are to help our individual selves grow and to help the community grow.
