Classroom Ennvironment and the Successful Student by C. Rene - October 2014 Scholarship Essay

The ideal classroom environment, in my opinion, should feel spacious and well-organized. The teachers should be knowledgeable on the subject being taught. Educators should care about student learning, and adapt to meet the needs of their pupils. The instructors should also work hard to make the curriculum relevant to the lives of students. Every element of the classrooms’ design should be appealing, and safe. Peer-to-peer interactions are a major component within the college environment and it builds the support base for success at college level. Forming study groups reinforce learning. Precisely how beneficial the classroom environment is in making a new student feel comfortable and welcomed hinges on the faculty member teaching the course. Classes in which the professor establishes a class structure that actively engages students in the learning process are very beneficial.

From my own personal experience all of the characteristics I’ve named have helped make a big difference in my learning process. Being successful in my college education is positively affected by and enhanced via these components. Successful students get involved in their studies. I accept responsibility for my own education, and I am an active participant in it. I actively listen, ask questions, and take notes. Successful students have legitimate goals and are driven by them. Most instructors want exactly what you want as a successful student. They would like for you to learn the material in their classes and earn a good grades.

Therefore a great classroom environment will be a positive attribution to my success as a student. I work hard to learn the material and as a result earn great grades. I remain motivated to do well and succeed
