Giving Back Through Education by Brittney - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

Many people view an education as something they have to do. However, I see it as something entirely different. I like to think of an education as a way to give back to future generations. If you think about the people in your life who help you, they would have all had to get an education. Doctors, dentists, bankers, and especially teachers had to get a college degree.

Since I would like to major in education, I especially love the idea of education. The reason why I've thought about this degree so much is because of my past teachers. They had to go through what I will go through. Because they took the time to go to college, I was able to further my education, giving me the opportunity to go to college.

Whether you see school as a reward or a punishment, it is still needed. Our country is so advanced, and we are able to start going to school at the age of five or six. Many people in third world countries don't get the experience we're granted. In fact, many women won't even get the chance to consider going to school. I will be forever grateful to the education system we have, guaranteeing so many people a better future. Education is worth it, so make sure to take advantage of it while you can.
