A Fresh Start by Bridget - November 2014 Scholarship Essay

High School is a fresh start for everybody. This is an exciting new time to branch out and learn new things. Meeting new people and making new friends is very important during high school; becoming involved in numerous extra-curricular activities will help you become a well-rounded person; do your best to keep your grades up.

While keeping old friends is important, making new friends is very important. Merging new friends with old can be a great thing. If you do not have many friends, now is an excellent time to make some! People you meet in high school will stay with you forever.

Become as involved as you can at your new school. Join new clubs, even if you’re not sure about them, branching outside your comfort zone can be very rewarding. Do not limit yourself to one club or organization, try them all! Joining new clubs and organizations can help you develop your passions in life.
Keeping you grades up is one thing you can do to further your success in high school. While these new classes can sometimes be rough, keeping that GPA as high as you can really pay off. There are many benefits including making it on the Honor Roll, National Honor Society, car insurance benefits, and many others. Having good grades throughout high school can highly increase your chances of getting into your dream college.

Making new friends, joining club and organizations, and getting good grades are the most important things to benefit you in high school. High school is the bridge between the past and future, between childhood and adulthood. It is to your benefit to make the most of this time. Have fun, work hard, and make the most of the time you have in high school.
