Teaching From a New Perspective by Brianna - January 2015 Scholarship Essay

Ahhh teachers. Where would we all be without them? I have had some great teachers, and some teachers who I almost detested. The good things that my favorite teachers did will forever be in my memory.

My favorite teachers include my 1st grade teacher, my geometry/precalculus teacher, and my history/government and economy teacher. These three teachers each showed a passion for what they taught. Not only did they care about the job that they were doing, they cared that each and every student was comprehending what they were trying to convey.

My 1st grade teacher showed me the beauty of creativity. How to be myself in an educated and outright manner. She taught me the joy of reading different books and discovering which types were my favorite. My geometry/precalculus teacher taught me how to make math fun, despite how much my math skills may lack at times. My history/government teacher taught me that you can never know too much. Knowledge is the key to so many doors in life, but you should also better yourself by learning new things.

The one thing that I would say is most beneficial to my learning is love. Love for the subject, and genuine care for me and how much I learn. Knowing that a teacher genuinely cares about you and how much you are absorbing is a feeling that cannot be taken away or replaced.
