Education in the Next 50 Years by Breanna - May 2020 Scholarship Essay
I do not think anyone truly knows what education will look like in 50 years. Over time from the 1900s to the 2000s education has changed vastly. From smaller schools with 20 students in a grade to giant schools with hundreds to thousands of students in a grade. Not only that but education has changed from mostly paper to seeing phones and computers being used for school every day.
I can not fully imagine what education will be like in the next 50 years. Although I do think that education will become more reliant on technology than it is now. I think that with everything happening now that many students will not return to school as they would before. Most things in school I think will be transferred online. Anything that needs to be done in person will be.
I think that in the next 50 years they will want their freedom instead of the strict 8-3 schedule every weekday. The students may become home schooled instead of public or private. This way they can do the majority of their school work online. This will allow them to work and experience other things that in schools they do not teach.
I also think in the next 50 years students will be required to take certain classes to graduate. No, I do not mean art or a band or choir class. I think they will be required to take classes that teach students how to pay your bills, fix things in your home, how to eat healthy on a budget, and many more. I think these will be required because not every student knows how to do these things and would struggle if they did not get help or have to take a class over it.
Although all of these things may not happen for students I do think some will. The next 50 years is a very broad time and a lot can change for one person let alone schools. Technology continues to grow everyday and schools develop with it. Many students want their freedom once they get to high school and need a chance to have it. With technology that gives them an opportunity. Overall I think that in the next 50 years education will change a lot. I think it will be through technology, having more freedom, and different required classes.
