My career plan in becoming a teacher by Biance - March 2020 Scholarship Essay

My interest in Spanish teaching was sparked ever since I was a little girl. I grew up being raised in a Mexican household and being taught Spanish as my first language. Ever since I can remember I have always had an interest in learning more about my background and ethnicity. High school gave me that opportunity. I had taken Spanish during my freshman and sophomore years. When junior year came around I decided to take the opportunity and apply for AP Spanish Language. I knew I had to take advantage of the opportunity and take this course as a serious matter. I was determined to work hard and maintain good grades. I was always on time for my classes and came in eager every day ready to learn something new.
We did many lessons that consisted of presentations, exams, and worksheets. It gave the students and me a better understanding of the course and a glance at how the exam would be like in April. Each day the more lessons we did in learning about Latin countries and their traditions captivated my interest in Spanish even more. I contained good grades and worked hard on my schoolwork not only for my AP classes but as well as my honors. The anticipation was finally over when I received my scores in July. I had scored a 5. I will always remember the joy and excitement I had that day.
I always knew I had a love and passion for teaching. I enjoy being around kids and having the opportunity of being able to help them grow. Growing up with teachers all my life made me realize that becoming a teacher was designated for me. I enjoyed the memories I had as a little girl with them and how much they helped me throughout the years. They shared their wisdom and life stories with students. Teachers were the first ones to ever give us a platform in which we could share our ideas and branch out at such a young age. We learned useful skills that have been carried out and used for our whole lives. They never gave up on students and made them push themselves to the best of their abilities.
Being in high school gave me more clarity as to what field I would like to teach. Ever since I have been in high school I realized that it is maturing us for what's to come after. Being able to help students branch out and share my wisdom the same way teachers did my entire life would be a dream come true. I know being a Spanish teacher in a secondary education school can be challenging, but I am ready for what is to come no matter the obstacles.
