My perfect college by Avery - August 2020 Scholarship Essay
Everyone has their ideals picked out when applying for colleges.A majority of the time, students have to compromise because most colleges won't check every box of a student's must list.Being asked to write and fantasize about having a college having everything you want is such a different idea to me because students are so used to always being told to think realistically, but this prompt lets your imagination run wild.
My ideal college's location would be somewhere on the west coast. I feel like it would be so fitting for me to be in an environment where I'm able to go hiking and surfing, which are two of my biggest hobbies. I love that there is such a diverse population of people all along the pacific coast and that I would be able to be surrounded by different cultures and types of people. I love the weather patterns and how there is actually a winter season, whereas here in Florida, it is always humid and warm.
My perfect college's degree programs would mainly focus on international relations, political science, social/behavioral science, law, criminology, and psychology.I would want the college to also have many internship opportunities so it can be added to my resume and aid me in the search for a job. I would prefer these factors because I would be able to be surrounded by professors and students that are teaching/pursuing an education or career similar to the one I am. I feel as though this factor would help me because I would always be learning information that benefits me from those I'm surrounded by. I think that it would also aid me in making lifelong friends and connections.
My college campus would have businesses such as stores and restaurants on campus that I would be able to work at to reduce how much I would have to leave my campus. I would save money on gas and time when balancing my work shifts and classes.
