Why do we need to go to college? Isn't 13 years of education from K-12 enough? It may be enough now but, this may not be the case in the future. I see college as a place where a student can create a solid base for their future career or future discoveries that will help the world grow. College education is a critical point of anyone’s life because it also acts as jump-start into the real world. In high school students don’t practice the necessary real-world skills such as independence, responsibility and other key qualities that are required for the work force. During my years in high school I received a great grades and when through a leadership problem but every day we had teachers and adults doing work for us in some areas and even the jobs that were meant to be independent were nothing compared to life that came in college. As college student we were in charged with the financial responsibility, getting the food on our own plate, no professor reminding due dates, bills, and other concepts that come with living in the real world. In high school grades were reported to students frequently and there were second chances but in college we are taught how sometimes the world is not fair, and we must learn to the best based on the scenario that is given. These new lessons we learn help mold students for the workforce after the higher education. College also stands as a tool for the betterment of society through the research opportunities on college, the connections professors might have with well-known companies or research facilities in the private and public sector. These research facilities such as the NIH, NASA, and other organizations provide a way for students to sue their undergrad and post grad education for research areas like medicine, physics, and other areas. Through this pathway the world learns more about everything that exists in our space in time. Through medicine, we can prevent future cases of COVD-19 or future epidemics from occurring, or we can use medicine to help solve heart diseases like SVT or WPWS. College education is the pathway for the future by creating new technologies that lead to new jobs in the work forces such as the upcoming possibility of AI which would create more jobs that require a basic level bachelors’ degree to operate. For these reason college educations is an important and essential for all of us because it helps prepare us for the real world and it serves as the educational base for everyone’s future well-being.
