Express Your Feelings by Ava - August 2015 Scholarship Essay

Students should be able to express themselves through a creative outlet to understand their own feelings, take out negative energy, and interpret the world around them. Art is an important way for students to harness their inner creativity, and it can be applied to other classes as well. There are a plethora of mediums to choose from, and whichever you choose can end up being extremely therapeutic. Since school can be stressful, it is important that there is a way for students to pursue an imaginative release of their tension. Additionally, some students do not have access to art materials at home, so coming to school and being able to create something wonderfully relaxing would be a dream come true.

If students had art as a mandatory class in the high school curriculum, they would work more productively in other classes. Sometimes, it is more useful to take a break from the stress of core classes and instead delve into the world of creations and collaborative projects that bring people closer together. Creativity leads to innovation, and students can use their artistic talents to ace their other classes by coming up with brand new ways of doing things.

If art was combined into the high school curriculum, it would offer amazing benefits to the students. The school can display beautiful works of art and be proud of the many creative students that scurry from class to class in its hallways. Students would begin to spark inspiration in each other, and school would become a very different place. Art would create a nurturing and comfortable environment that students would feel comfortable in, and their stress levels would be considerably reduced.
