Technology has opened a world of resources that have made learning in the classroom easier. From teachers that can use Google Classroom to post additional learning resources to discussion boards for AP students, it is easier to learn concepts that I struggle with at school.

There are two inventions of technology that have positively impacted my experience: my phone and my laptop. At my school, every single classroom has a set of chromebooks. With chromebooks, we can research and work on online assignments. We can also use our chromebooks or personal devices to play review games, such as Kahoot! These review games are not only fun, but allow our teachers to observe concepts students don’t understand. This enhances our review sessions because the teacher can make time to review difficult subjects instead of wasting time on reviewing subjects we understand. At home, my personal laptop allows me to finish assignments that I don’t understand at school. I can also take my personal laptop to the library or Starbucks, which is extremely helpful, so I can study somewhere else when I cannot focus at home. Lastly, my teachers use an app called Remind to help my classmates and I remember assignments or tests due later in the week. Remind is extremely helpful because I may forget to write important announcements in my planner. In addition to using my laptop and phone to access classroom resources, I can also use these two inventions to access social media websites that offer educational resources.

Although social media can be used negatively, there are many educational resources offered on these platforms. YouTube hosts hundreds of educational channels that have helped me study for tests. One of these channels is Crash Course, which offers videos on many different subjects. Because their videos include animation and graphics, it is easier for me to pay attention and take notes, rather than listen to a thirty minute lecture video. Another great resource that has positively impacted my classroom experience is Reddit. On Reddit, there is a discussion board for AP students. On this discussion board, I can read about another student’s study techniques and advice for a certain subject. By reading advice on Reddit, I have improved my AP study methods, which will also help me as I pursue my college education. Without these resources, it would be more difficult for me to grasp important topics and study for AP exams.

Technology is an essential part of the modern classroom. Without technology, students wouldn’t be able to access learning resources that could make their classroom experience easier and positively impact their learning styles that will follow them to college.
