The Detached World of Education by Audra - April 2015 Scholarship Essay
Men and women, boys and girls, guys and gals, we're all told from the time we start preschool how important education is. Teachers, parents, and even friends will push you to do good in school because that's all that matters. However, what it has become is not the essence of what it was truly intended for. Society has been fooled into this process of better education equals money. Money runs everything including the one thing that it shouldn't. Expanding, learning, living with a purpose- education. It is supposed to help us become the citizens that we want to be and live the lives we feel we deserve.
So, we go to school, we pay for school, we get educations for a job we don't even want, we waste our short years away. Disappointing, but it's time we made a change in that. It's time to realize education is not just for our future stability, but for the years after that we can enjoy knowing that we have dont good. Individuals need to live in society where we all enjoy what we're doing, and it's not just another pay check. It is a true shame that we live in a time where a dream and effort isn't always enough.
Education is supposed to be about furthering our knowledge of the world and what we enjoy. This way we can make proper decisions in the future and become wiser and better humans. Not just better humans, but people, friends, and family. Education is a time for the brain to stretch and get into the work out. It's supposed to be what helps us become what we want to and help further our society and the people around us. It's time to make a change.
