Being successful in college is all about you. What you do with that time, education, and opportunities provided to you. What you put in is what you will receive. But, college is a very stressful time in a young adult’s life. For many years, we have been sheltered and nurtured by our parents, and our teachers. Going into college and dealing with the new obstacles is without a doubt nerve racking and overwhelming. That is why having leadership qualities is idealistic to achieving a successful college experience.

There are three main qualities that define a great leader. Determination, passionate,and time management. Though they might seem extreme for “some freshman” I believe with these characteristics, you will look back after graduating college and say “I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Determination is defined as someone’s willingness to get their work done. Determination can also be said to explain a “firmness of purpose” which is the root of going to college. We are trying to find our purpose in our chosen career paths and make a spot for ourselves in society. With all the new hardships college throws at you, if you are determined to excel in your classes and the obstacles of early adulthood - you will be successful in college.

Being passionate in college helps by allowing you to narrow down your choices, and really push to become better at your major. When you are in love with what you do, you are not only concentrated but confident in your belief to be your best at it. Just walking around college mindlessly, is just time wasted.

Finally, to be successful in college, you have to time manage. Every college alumni that I have spoken to has told me the endless amounts of extracurriculars, homework, and time with friends that they are trying to juggle. That they end up spending too much time on one thing, and having not enough time for the other. That is why with good time management, you are able to get everything done when need be. When you time manage, you push yourself to become more organized too.

In conclusion, you are able to have a successful college experience if you hold these leadership qualities. I believe that college is a time where you can grow and be a better you and that with these qualities it will only lead to a more prosperous and successful college experience.
