Does college have boring classrooms? by Ashlyn - October 2014 Scholarship Essay

I am currently a high school senior, and my wonderful high school is very enthusiastic along with it's teachers. When I walk into my classrooms, I am overwhelmed by an abundance of wall design. From the motivating and inspiring kitten signs to the movie premiere posters, I have seen it all. As interesting and amusing as they can be, they unfortunately do not improve my concentration skills. A normal student would hope for an over-decorated classroom, probably so they have an excuse not to pay attention to what they are learning, but I am not a normal student.

I am one of the handful of students I know who genuinely care about their valuable education. I try my hardest to succeed in everything I do, and I am proud of it, but the environment I learn in is an important part in my education. Personally, the perfect environment for me to be taught in is a pretty boring one. Without the distraction of the artwork on the walls and the occasional quiet yet pestering smooth jazz from the teachers desk speakers, I am allowed to focus more on my schoolwork and better my knowledge. Now, my preferred classroom does not reflect my personality. It's the opposite actually! I am a very excited teenager, especially about my future and college career. I sure hope my college of choice has some boring classrooms!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my scholarship essay. Have a great rest of your day!
