Zoning out; My 2021 Education Goal by Ashley - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

My 2021 education goal is to fully understand everything I am learning. Often in school I ignore certain lessons or think some are less important than others because they are harder or boring my eyes, but during my education journey in 2021 I would like to change that. In 2021 I will be entering college and the lessons I learn in college will be vital in my future career so it is very important that I fully understand every lesson that I am being taught.
This goal will not be easy to accomplish because it is so easy to just turn off your brain and zone out rather than to fully concentrate and understand what you are being taught. To accomplish this goal I will need to follow some steps to make sure this goal is actually attainable. These steps will be, taking more detailed notes, asking any questions I have or writing down questions and looking them up at a later date, going over the notes I have taken and scheduling time to talk to either my professor or aide or a study group when I am struggling with a specific topic or lesson. All of these steps will help me to better understand what I am being taught and will help me actually accomplish my goal.
Setting an education goal is very important because it gives you something to work for and helps you focus on specific areas of your education that you are either struggling with or need to improve on. I think that setting a specific and small goal with clear steps on how to accomplish it as my 2021 education goal will be very beneficial to me because it will help me actually improve something that I am struggling with. Understanding all my lesson fully is something that is very important and something that I am very excited to focus on in 2021.
