Put a stop to Bullying and make a difference! by Ariana - March 2017 Scholarship Essay
Bullying in America has become a obstacle in schools making it a hard task and often difficult to find ways to go about it. There are many things that can influence such behavior such as social media, tv shows, but mostly how they are raised at home. At times we don't the lives of the victims or the bully so we assume that it's nothing serious, but being alert of situations is better than the consequences. Bullying is a topic that everyone should know about because they may know someone who has experienced it or themselves have and taking action can make a big difference.
Victims of bullying usually don't like to open up due to the threats of their bullies and it can make it harder for a teacher or parent to get through to them. Victims usually don't know where to go because they may feel like they are being ignored, but someone is always listening. Even a friend of the victim may know about the situation, but is afraid of what could be the result of their choices. Bullies don't understand how words can make a big difference in someone's life and can effect them tremendously. Victims usually are bullied for their race, physical appearance, religious beliefs, and etc. Also, they are bullied in many ways that could effect their social life at school and at home which can make relationships with other difficult at times. Sometimes the victims can defend themselves, but at the end the bully takes them over completely leaving the victim hopeless of what the future may look like. There has to be someone who has the courage to step up to the bully and let them know that it's not the right thing to do and they should never be afraid of stepping up because the result could make a positive difference.
Bullies don't always want to be themselves because they may have been taught to be that way. I am not saying that we should give bullies a break, but they should take responsibility of their mistakes and learn from them. They could've been a victim themselves and decided to take the wrong path. No one knows the background of either the bullies or victims, but we want the bullying to be stopped because everyday someone's feelings are getting hurt. Let me tell you that words really are powerful and can change your perspective. Bullies need to understand that there are consequences to their actions and they should think before they do something because deep down inside we'd hope that the bully didn't choose to be the way they are.
Bullying is a major topic throughout America and anyone who feels like someone is dealing with something like this or you know of someone then you should definitely try to get some help because we want to put a stop to bullying and make a difference that will make a positive difference that will hopefully go on for a long time and will be legacy to be progressed throughout the years.
