Significance of parents in your school life by Areeba - March 2017 Scholarship Essay
A child spends most of his time in school. He interacts with a number of kids coming from different backgrounds and bringing different values with them. He plays with them and laughs with them. Whatever he does in school has a greater impact on his personality than what he does at home. Maybe because he mingles with people who are about his same age and have the same thoughts and feelings as he has. And as a result the child starts to trust them more than his parents.
Those people are none other than his friends. His friends make him laugh, and sometimes even cry too but he likes spending time with them. He likes to hangout with them and share his feelings and problems with them and ultimately trusts them. Other than just studies, a school going student has his social life in school too. Whatever he does or whatever he speaks are all influenced by what he watches and does in school.
But at the end of the day, he his back with his family. He shouts at his mom for not making his favorite food without knowing the reason behind it. He shouts at his dad for not buying him his favorite phone without knowing his family’s financial condition which his father was hiding from him. This kind of behavior is apparent in more than 70% of middle and high school students but only when they are at home. Why is that so? In school they act sweetly and kindly with their friends and don't expect anything from them but at home there is a different avatar.
Just because their parents never complain him, never expect anything from him, let him live his life the way he wants, the child takes this for granted. He has no idea of what his parents do for him behind his back. He sits in the cafeteria eating lunch and talking to his friends, cracking jokes, and making nicknames for their teachers. He doesn't realize the fact that the food he is eating was cooked by his mom who woke up earlier than him, made his food, ironed his clothes and then woke him with her soft hands resting over his head and her sweet voice calling his name and waking him for school. The phone he is using and taking selfies with his friend and showing his hilarious screenshots was brought to him by his father who saved 10$ every week to buy him the best phone he wants despite of their poor condition.
All his parents wanna see is a smile on his face when he comes from school. No matter the way he talks to them they never feel that. Anything which can give them most happiness in the world is watching their kid smile and laugh and enjoy.
Years pass and time flies, friends go and a few remain but what remains with you is your parents blessing, their advice and their guidance. They love you more than anyone else will ever in the world and never expect anything for their unconditional love. Never hurt them and always trust them. Whatever might be situation in life with your peers or anyone else, never ever decrease the significance of your parents in your life. Give them your time, Teach them what they do not understand, believe them, be kind with time, and you will surely succeed in your life.
