Why I Am Thankful for my Dual-Enrollment Education by Anthony - November 2020 Scholarship Essay

I am grateful for the opportunity that was given to me to pursue a dual-enrollment education during high school. Not many students my age are able to be given an opportunity like the one I was given from Glendale Community College (GCC) in Arizona: I was accepted into the ACE program to jumpstart my college education.

It is truly an honor knowing that I am representing not only my school but my family as well when I am a part of GCC’s program because it is an opportunity for me to showcase my talents academically. In addition, the program has taught me new skills that I can use inside and outside the classroom, such as learning how to write a perfect college paper and connecting with new people to form new relationships. Because of these newly learned skills, I am thankful.

The program is only made possible through the generous donations given by kind strangers who believe in academic success. And because of that, I am grateful to them for believing in the future of students like me. So, I always strive to achieve the highest grade in my class; I strive to actively participate during my classes; I strive for these things because I am grateful knowing that I would not be in this program without the help from these kind strangers.

In the future, when I am financially stable and start my career, I will look back on the time of my dual-enrollment education and still be grateful. I will donate to programs like GCC’s in order for students like me to get a head start on their college journey. Due to the kindness of strangers who have given me opportunities to grow academically and socially, I am forever thankful for my dual-enrollment education.
