Being a better me by Andrew - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

No one is perfect, it is a simple fact of life, everyone can improve himself/herself in some way. I am no different, and that is why starting this year I have decided to take the first steps to making a better me, by doing a simple but effective thing, I’m going to lead a more organized life.
For as long as I can remember I have always been very unorganized and messy. However this was never a problem because I could just remember everything that I needed to know or stuff I needed to find. But, at the end of last semester I began to realize I wasn’t able to remember everything anymore, there was simply too much for me to keep up with. At first it wasn’t a problem just one little thing here or there that was no big deal to recover from and get done in time. But then I noticed that it was getting worse as I was being even given more and more thing to do, and in all honestly it scared me when I forgot to attach a paper to an essay that I turned in which at first didn’t seem like a big deal, until not having that paper caused me to fail the essay and almost cost me my english grade. Only through hard work was I able to recover and bring my grade back up. So, I’ll admit that one time didn’t scare me into changing, but when finals came around and one of them was on a different day than normal, and I forgot to study for it, luckily for me someone asked me a question about the class the night before, so I was able to get a few hours of studying in and did ok on the test. Then when I got home that same day I noticed, for the first time how messy and out of order my room was, and for some reason I had an urge to clean it and get it put together the right way.
After almost losing my grade in one class, possibly failing a midterm, which I luckily did ok on, and realizing that I had being living in chaos, I knew that something had to change. So this year and for years to come I am committing myself to leading a more organized and well put together life. I’m not claiming that I’m going to lead a perfect life of peace and harmony, but I do plan on doing simple things like using a planer, keeping my spaces clean and organized, and most of all I simply need to not be too lazy to do what I know needs done. So, like I said my resolution may seem simple, there is no question in my mind that it will help to make me, a better me.
