My Future Organiza by Alyssa - February 2020 Scholarship Essay

If I were to start an organization that drives me, it would be a charitable act towards YAABA or Youth Academic Athletic Business and Arts Academy. I have a passion for helping people, specifically, youth, reach the heights and goals they’ve worked hard for. I also believe that if we empower the next generation by teaching them real-world skills and pouring positivity into their lives we’ll be okay in the future. YAABA’s vision aligns with my passion and that’s why I would invest in this charitable to this organization.

Although YAABA hasn’t yet been opened, it has been a dream of my family for many years. After doing extensive research, we noticed that the youth in our community needed an encouraging, uplifting place to work on academics, athletics, and arts after school and on the weekends. We also assessed that “how-to” classes such as laundry, budgeting, and cooking needed be taught because a large percentage of the youth didn’t understand these basic concepts. We decided that if we provided these things for the youth of Johnston County, we would see a larger success rate and more opportunities open for them.

I would use resources such as donations, funds, volunteers, etc. to help keep the program running. The program itself would act as a non-profit so it would be free for those apart of it but, running the program would not be free. Things such as instruments, school supplies, snacks, buses, and athletic gear would need to be purchased with the funds or donated by people. Volunteers would help maintain the building and transport the youth back and forth to school. Volunteers could also be used for homework tutoring, teaching life classes/skills and coaching. The resources provided would help tremendously in the start-up of YAABA.

In conclusion, YAABA is an organization that will empower the next generation to become productive citizens and future leaders for our communities. It is an investment in our future that will reap innumerable possibilities. For these reasons, I would willingly invest a sizable amount of resources into YAABA.
