A big stepping stone in many people’s careers and life is college. Every year, millions of students attend college. Most attend in hopes of changing their lives. Attending college isn’t a completely selfish act. It’s common to think about how a college degree can give a person a better job or more money. This isn’t always the case. A student’s college degree doesn’t only advance a student’s life, but the lives of everyone they encounter.
When students go to college, they make a lot of new friends. They build meaningful relationships as they learn to become independent. These connections help them become empathic adults. Empathy is the most important trait a college student can learn. As they transition from college into the workforce, the way they interact with others means everything. The workforce is built on connections and reputation. It’s hard for people to advance if they have a bad reputation following them. College students learning how to understand and work with all types of people will help them move up the ladder. From group projects to roommates, they will already know how to behave around others that are difficult to work with.
Once college graduates achieve their dream career, they can use their job to change lives. It can be the job itself, like a doctor, or they can donate their money. They are even changing their family’s life by supporting them. When college graduates advance, society advances as well.
