Individuals in the United States have a choice to the way they choose to live their life. Some may find a steady job without attending college that supports the bare minimum. Some may attend college and exceed a job to their liking. Then there are the population of people who choose to not attend college and are not able to obtain a job or provide for themselves and others. What choice would you make? Do you believe that attending college is important? This is an opinionated question to each individual. Therefore, I claim that in order to be financially stable, be content in life, and to enhance your career, it is indubitably important to attend college.
The data says that people who don’t finish high school earn less on average that people who do and people who go on to get a college degree earn more on average than those people who don’t. The term “financially stable” refers to the act of being able to pay your living and be free of debt with money to spare. In general, you go to college to pursue your education to potentially achieve your goal to a specific career. Those who do not attend college are hoping to just have luck to find a job without a college degree. Most of these include low-wage jobs and the people who take on these jobs have a higher risk of unemployment and lower earnings. For example, let’s say that you did not attend college and you have a spouse and two children to support. You work at a low-wage job and you are falling behind on bills and are barely supporting your children. Your debt is increasing, and you are in a financial bind. The alternative is that you attend college and you have a financially stable job, allowing you to support your family and pay your bills. You are debt free with money left over. Attending college would be a better choice all together.
Attending college leads individuals to be content in their life. This idea ranges in many ways. I will consider the action of satisfaction. It is said that a college degree can boost one’s self esteem and gain them more confidence. The reality of that piece of paper that signifies a college degree in a profession can be seen as overall satisfaction. It allows you to be able to obtain a job of your liking. A job of your liking can lead to less stress and better work ethic. If you like your job, then it is more likely that you will do better at it and with continue to improve as time goes on. If you have a good work ethic, then you will do better at the job and you will not have a worry or stress about your job the night leading to the next day when you go home. These factors contribute to an individual exceeding a level of content and satisfaction with their lives leading to an overall happier life.
When you have a job, the key to success is good work ethic over everyone. A college degree can enhance your career. The information and tools that you learn while in college for a specific profession can be useful within your job. An individual can build off of the factual evidence they learned in college to improve their skills during work and continue to gain new skills and enhance their working habits. The continuance of enhancement in your job can increase your chances of more job opportunities. It is proven that a college degree can ensure career enhancement.
On the other hand, many individuals believe that there are more pros to not attending college than attending college. The pros of not attending college include the fact that you can continually gain money instead of spending money on a college degree, you can evolve more independence and you will gain more life experience. The reasoning behind the first point is emphasizing that attending college is very expensive and the alternative to attending college is to engage in the workforce and begin earning money. Many people think that if you get a job directly out of high school and start earning a salary, that you will gain more independence and life experience.
Attending college will allow you to gain the necessary tools that you will need to survive in life. A college degree will allow you to be financially stable, be content in life, and enhance your career. This is a controversial topic but I claim that it is important to attend college.
