Ideal Classrooms Are Different by Alexis - October 2014 Scholarship Essay

An ideal classroom environment that would help me succeed in my education is probably unlike most people, well maybe not. As a senior in high school, I have learned that I am a tactile learner. This means that I am most successful in a hands-on, semi noisy, but organized classroom setting. I do better on exams when my teacher is hands on and interactive. This is my ideal classroom, but what about others who aren't like me?

Although this is how I am successful in a classroom, everybody else is not like me. Some students’ ideal classroom environment is quiet, focused, and serious. They may can only learn if there are absolutely no interruptions, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this method either. You are never wrong for your style of learning.

Ever heard someone say they didn't have to study because they took an mental image of the notes or text? They probably were not lying because this is known as visual learning. Visual learning is quite popular among my generation and is becoming a pretty hot topic. The visual learners have to see the teacher solve equations and make notes to retain the information. To write things and then retain them is another method some visual learners use to study and be successful in the classroom.

So, there is no such thing as one ideal classroom because your ideal classroom is what works for you. Your ideal classroom is not what works for everyone. An ideal classroom is what works for you and helps you to be the most successful in and out the classroom.
