Flashcards by Alexis - January 2014 Scholarship Essay

Going through almost thirteen years of school, has allowed me to adventure through many different ways of studying. I am a person who constantly likes to be up and moving, and always doing something. So, of all the techniques my most beneficial one has proven to be using flashcards.

As it is, my brain and personality is quite simple. I enjoy doing things that are timely, and using flashcards that are color-coded has helped me do that. Flashcards are easy because you can do them by your self, or you can have someone else quiz you with them. The cards easily exercise many parts of your brain, learning both sides of an equation and two different meanings of a word can easily allow you to relate when it comes to seeing it on a quiz.

Large cards with one word written boldly on it, helps me to be able to focus on exactly what I need to be learning. Without any other clutter or distractions, my brain is easily able to remember the definition or question that it’s trying to learn. The color-coding aspect of it allows my train of thought to connect the desired meanings to each other. This way, when it comes to a test I am able to easily remember and connect the words that I am trying to answer.
