The Purpose of Education by Alexandria - April 2015 Scholarship Essay

Education allows for one to answer questions from curiosity. Curiosity can cause people to theorize, idealize, and imagine things that create wonders. Educating oneself is a tool that people have found useful for getting ahead in life individually and even as a group effort.

Individually, education brings hope for many. Some desire to use it for their careers while others just want to gain more knowledge. Education allows for equality because it breaks down the barrier of social class where anyone from any background can work their way up or maintain what their family already has set in place. Not only is it something one can hold on to forever and even pass on, but it gets people to where they desire to be in life socially, financially, and even politically.

Education embodies empowerment, it helps a person grow. Education in a traditional setting includes an institution, with instructors, and courses. Yet as human beings we are being educated right from the very beginning as babes. Mothers, Fathers, and Guardians raise us teaching us all sorts of values, morals, and ways of life. We can learn things from our environment and surroundings that we might have never discussed inside a classroom with deadlines, regulations, and requirements. In this sense education shapes and molds us as we grow to be the persons that we become, and with that education has another powerful purpose which is helping us find our calling for living period.

When we are educated we are opening up doors for opportunity to make our lives better as individuals and even on a bigger scale such as the world. All throughout history Human beings have been merely adapting through learning from their own experiences or from others. We've even came up with outstanding innovations from previous ideas. Education has been a key factor in doing this and it purposefully is what's allowing life as we know it to keep expanding.
