Leadership is important in every aspect of a person's life. Leadership skills are especially necessary for college success. This is because college allows students to explore future careers, prepares them for life in the working world, and separates the followers from the leaders.

For many young adults, college is an experience that they are looking forward to. College students take a vast array of classes to explore career fields. Not all who enter college know for sure what they want to do in the future. Leadership skills are necessary to search through career fields. This is because students will need to take the initiative to make connections with professionals in a specific career field that they are interested.

Leadership skills are necessary in college because it prepares you for life in the working world. College students learn that they will not be 'babysat' by their professors. They learn that they will have to be organized and willing to lead, to create projects and presentations. College is a little preview of what life after college will look like. Those in the working world lead projects, are in charge of employees, and other leadership activities.

College separates the leaders from the followers. Because college is a time of independence, students figure out who they really are. Those who understand the importance of leadership rise to the top, while followers fall behind. Professors will notice those who stand out and lead more than those who simply follow others. These leaders will find it easier to find internships and jobs as professors will be more willing to help them in their search.

Leadership skills are necessary for college students to succeed. Leaders in college will notice that they have an incredible college experience filled with many opportunities. As a high schooler thinking of college I know that I must find ways to better my leadership skills, because leadership skills are necessary for college success.
