Most Effective Study Method by Alanna - January 2014 Scholarship Essay
The most effective study method that has really helped me in both high school and college is the flash card method. Using flash cards helps to keep the brain focused on one thing at a time and therefore helps a student to focus on a key piece of information and then be able remember the details about that important piece of information.
When I was in high school, I often used to study for tests and quizzes by looking and reading over all of the notes that I had written in class. However I found this to be very difficult for me since I would often get ahead of myself and begin to look over everything at once which would confuse me right before the test. By my senior year in high school I decided to change my studying methods and soon discovered the use of having flash cards. Using flash cards really helped me to remember specific dates, people and vocabulary and I began to make much higher grades on all of my class exams. Not only did using flashing cards help me to study for my exams, but by using flash cards I was also able to study for my SAT and ACT.
As a college student, I still use the flash card method because it is effective and a good studying method for anyone has trouble with studying straight from the textbook. This method is used by many students and has been recommended by many professors because of how successful students have become after utilizing this method.
The use of flash cards is a very successful and engaging studying method that has proven to be very useful and helpful in every course; therefore I believe the most effective studying method is the use of flash cards.
