I believe that the basis of discoveries is trying continuously discovering, developing, and deducing new themes, concepts, theories, and ideas. Knowledge is not static, but rather dynamic and, as such, change towards developing better understanding of the world is the fundamental idea in life. The theme of change is vital in developing new ideas and discovering innovative realities. And I seek to create change. To develop, innovate, and diversify new ideas, concepts, and approaches. My actions are not mere executions of tasks, but my outlets of my ambitions and passions.

Understanding new concepts and uncovering new realities requires constant questioning about current ideas, challenging their authenticity and going beyond what is known presently. My aspirations and goals lead me to march towards these new concepts and knowledge to grasp understanding of the world around me. Whether it be through scientific research towards advancement of alternative energy, aiding in synthesizing inhibitor proteins to prohibit cancer cell proliferation, or simply volunteering at my local hospital as a leading figure and directing daily operations, I wish to have a significant impact on the society I live in. As I do put a large emphasis on my goals and ambitions, I also put heavy emphasis on practical decisions and actions as well. I have learned, through my mission trip to Thailand, that there is much more to the world than my daily life in the US. I developed an awareness of the evident problems of the world and the need for solutions to be implemented. I was able to transcend the small world I had become so accustomed to expand my vision and release myself from ghosts of false notion and ignorance. The poverty, lack of medical aid, and distress in need of crucial help I witnessed there only made my resolution to make an impact stronger. I am not just a student. But an individual. An upcoming scientist. An adventurer. A leader. A seventeen-year old boy who wants to transform society.

It was the actions of singles moments that eventually formed many of the values I hold today and that will continue to define me. In a way, they changed me—made me who I am today—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Ingrained within me is the need to transcend mediocrity. To give to rather than take. However, the true source of my motivation lies in a deeper need to create positive change. To know that, when all is said and done, I have left the world a better place. I won’t settle for anything less.
