The go to study plan by Adam - January 2014 Scholarship Essay
I have tried many different methods for studying and all but one work effectively for me. There are three steps to my successful studying method. My studying method consists of copying lecture notes in class, creating a study guide, and last minute cramming. These three components make my study method very beneficial to my success in test taking.
Copying lecture notes in class has never really helped me learn the material on its own. The information does not stick with me while I'm trying to listen and write the information down at the same time. However, it is the base to my study method and allows me to have all the information I need to create a study guide.
The study guide consists of all the best information from my lecture notes. I take all the key terms and the need to know information and write it down on separate paper. This newly created study guide is much more neat than my lecture notes and doesn't contain all the extra stuff that I probably should have put in my notes in the first place. I then study the study guide over and over as often as I need or want to study it.
The last step of my studying method is last minute cramming. This last minute cramming I feel is what makes me do quite well on tests. I wake up early on the day of the test and going over my study guide three or four more times. This lets me have the information fresh in my head on the day of the test.
These three steps combined are what I use to study. I find these very beneficial to me and helps me remember the information quite well. This is the only study method that I have found that works for me all the time.
