Academic Success by Abigail - November 2019 Scholarship Essay
Academic success has been a vital part of my high school experience. From my freshman year until now, I have always put school first. School and grades have always been very important to me. As I have gone through high school, I have noticed students who struggle with academics. As a student who typically does not struggle with success in academics, I made a personal goal of trying to help others succeed as well.
When I first set this goal for myself, I felt uncomfortable trying to make it happen. I was not always a very outgoing person, but this was something I aspired to change about myself. During my sophomore year, I started to notice several students asking me for help with various subjects. I felt great knowing others felt like they could approach me for help. Before I knew it, I had a lot of peers asking for help and slowly starting to receive higher grades. I knew my advice and tips were helping, so I felt great about what I was doing.
During my junior year of high school, I was accepted into the National Honor Society. At my high school, the National Honor Society students offer tutoring throughout the entire school day. This gave me an opportunity to work with students one on one with subjects. I believe this really helped a lot of students succeed with their work. I believe I have made a difference in my school. Although I haven't started a club or anything of the sort, I have helped numerous students understand material and helped them to succeed. Several students have thanked me and have told me my advice really helped. Although I find passion in helping others, I am still blown away by the response my peers have given me related to this topic.
I believe I have made a very positive impact during my time in high school. As a senior, I am still currently tutoring and helping students. I believe this has made a great impact on many people at my high school and I will continue that until I graduate.
