Every Student Unique by Abigail - October 2014 Scholarship Essay

Imagine a class where every student studied at their own pace instead of the pace of the teacher or other students. Each student has a complete understanding of what they are working on and one student is not ahead of the other or behind. The teacher works with each student to their highest level of understanding and does not prefer one student over the other. Every student is seen as an equal and there is no discrimination against level of intelligence, race, social class or gender. There is a variety of learning methods so each individual can learn the subject. Whether through kinetic, visual or auditory learning the instructor provides for the intellectual needs of the student.

If this was a real classroom I believe that the students would have a greater chance of succeeding at college and in the real world because they have a greater understanding of what they are learning. They are not just be absentmindedly receiving information but retaining what they hear. The student is actively participating in their classes and taking what they learn and applying it to real world situations. The teacher would be keeping the student engaged and they would enjoy learning that subject much more.
