What is your teaching philosophy?

I strive to help students achieve their academic goals through effective teaching tools and personal attention.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

During a first session with a student, introductions are required. Through observation and the student's goals, I will start to tailor the academic experience around which learning style suits the student the best.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I will first determine how much assistance is needed, and will provide a comfortable learning environment for the student to become more confident and independent in their studies.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

It is imperative to involve the student in their success, and to fulfill their goals in order to keep them motivated. I would help a student stay motivated by keeping them involved in every step of the educational process.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, I would approach the skill or concept in a different way. This could be done through use of audio, visual, or tactile techniques.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

In order to help students with reading comprehension, I utilize the dictionary and similar examples that are relevant to the student.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I have found success with students is based on finding a neutral ground from which tutor and student can build a stress-free relationship.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I adapt my tutoring to the student's needs by identifying their learning style.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

In the past I have used textbooks, workbooks/worksheets, literary books, Internet, movies, audiotapes, and art utensils.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I help students get excited in a subject through different educational materials and helping them relate to the subject.
