Social Studies Tutoring review by Matt in Cambridge
We discussed more about the Viking way of life as well as a more in depth look at the effects their raids had on continental Europe. We talked about feudalism in Europe in the Middle Ages and how the progression worked from lords to vassals to serfs.

The student and I continued to work on writing her paper. She is continuing to write about the book and putting it into the context of the history of the era. She works hard and is doing great work, asking for help with wording and some grammar. We then continued to read her book. While she reads, I take notes. She stops when clarification is needed. She is making great progress.

We reviewed the student's work, got acquainted, and he worked on his next assignment. Luckily I was able to access his Google Docs setting so I could review what he had done and what he needed to do. He had a lot of unfinished assignments. I will be checking his account and encouraging him by email to work on them. I asked him to send me an email when this assignment is done so I could make recommendations and check for spelling and grammar errors. He is a very pleasant young man.

Social Studies Tutoring review by Courtenay in Cambridge
We covered the first half of chapter 26, 26.1 and 26.2, about the origins and beginnings of World War II. The student was very solid on the social and economic climate in Europe leading up to WWII. We worked to better understand the factors at play in the U.S. and Asia during the same time period. We also worked on the period from 1936-1939 when Italy, Germany, and Japan were making advances into sovereign states. It helped her remember some of the details when I told her anecdotal stories about the main political players during that time period. Next session, we will cover the second half of the chapter and make a timeline from memory with what was going on in each country from 1935-45.

Social Studies Tutoring review by Whitney in Cambridge
Tonight, the student and I began our session discussing the book she is reading for English class. She isn't liking it so far, but she admits that she might need to get further into it before she is sure about her feelings toward it. We then moved on to AP World and a discussion of new imperialism and the scramble for Africa. She had questions to complete, which we used as a basis for discussion. We also talked about the essay she wrote for her midterm, which she feels incredibly confident about.

Social Studies Tutoring review by Britanny in Cambridge
The student and I went over a last state assessment reading passage and she did incredibly well on it! We also used an online program to cover poetry terms and types. She grew a lot in this area and we both felt confident about her ability to tackle the upcoming test. She says she doesn't like poetry but she understands poetical terms and devices well, so as long as her focus stays up, she should do well!
