I believe an outstanding teacher has the ability to wear many hats and has diverse skills. I am a teacher that not only teaches, but serves as a mentor, role-model, coach, and supporter. An outstanding teacher also has the ability to be creative, organized, understanding, fair, enthusiastic, and patient on a regular basis. I am that teacher. My past experiences as both a counselor (regular and SpEd) and teacher (reading, ESL, and English) have given me years of experience and hands-on learning with a variety of students, both young and older.
And I have worked within many different types of educational institutions, such as: College, public education (high school, middle school, and even elementary school), Job Corps in downtown Phoenix, and even the Department of Juvenile Corrections.
During these years I continued to learn myself, attending workshops and classes, always striving to bring back to my students new concepts and strategies for their success.
I also believe in instilling into students the love of learning. However, as a teacher I am still learning myself and continue to learn from my students, co-workers, and personal experiences, while striving to consistently develop new teaching practices and learning strategies.

Above all else, I am compassionate for children and education. Compassion is crucial for the understanding, patience, and enthusiasm that is necessary to be a great teacher. I will provide this to my students on a daily basis.
One of my greatest strengths is the ability to form meaningful relationships with students, while having the ability to see from their perspectives and viewpoints. This can allow for open sharing and learning and an opportunity for growth. Open communication creates a safe and comfortable learning environment for all students.
