Certified Tutor

As someone whose career has benefited from a STEM education, I am passionate about the importance for students to have a good, basic understanding of math and science. For me, having a sound grasp of these subjects is essential to being able to function successfully in society. I enjoy working with young students, watching them learn, and helping them see how a STEM education can be of great value in everyday life.

I have a BS in Biological Engineering from Cornell University and an MS in Engineering Management from Widener University. I am a registered Professional Engineer, licensed to practice in New York State. During my career, I have worked as an engineer for the Navy and for private industry, as an energy lobbyist, and a math teacher. I have worked for large, multi-national corporations as well as for not-for-profit research organizations. I have a deep understanding of energy issues and how electricity is generated, either from fossil fuels or by renewable sources. My grasp of Spanish is decent and I like to practice on a daily basis. My goal is to become fluent in the language.
